CheeseChristmas came early this year for me as I read the headline Eating Cheese Every Day Might Actually Be HealthyResearchers found that people who ate a square of cheese the size of a matchbox had a lower risk of developing heart disease or having a stroke than those who never eat cheese. Don’t snuggle-up with a wheel of Gouda just yet. The findings are not to champion the need for a sliver of cheese in everybody’s day but to consider the opportunity cost of including it but not intentionally staying away from it, especially if you’re a fan of the creamy goodness of the bite-sized comfort food. After all, cheese does possess a soft opioid from the high concentration of opiates. How addicted can a baby get to its mothers milk? These highly concentrated elements of dairy are called casomorphins. For the record, cheese contains an amphetamine-like chemical so it feels relaxing and indulge. If nature can create a soft drugs that’s good for bodies at any age, what is that tell us?
